Many K-Dramas have faced tough situations that forced producers to cancel them. Let’s look at some shows that never made it to completion because of unexpected problems.
1.Prometheus
Fans eagerly awaited this K-Drama starring Ha Ji Won and Jin Goo. The show had a massive budget of ₩30.0 billion KRW (about $22.3 million USD) in 2017.
Sadly, filming kept getting delayed again and again. Ha Ji Won left first because of scheduling conflicts. Then MBC, the network set to air Prometheus, dropped the show completely. After these setbacks, Jin Goo also walked away from the project. The expensive production never saw the light of day.
2.School 2020
This drama was set to air in August 2020. It would have starred Kim Yohan and Ahn Seo Hyun.
Trouble began when Ahn Seo Hyun’s father made too many demands to the producers. This led to Ahn Seo Hyun being removed from the cast. The team then offered the female lead role to Kim Sae Ron instead.
At first, KBS decided not to air School 2020 on their network. Surprisingly, they later changed their minds. The show was renamed School 2021 and eventually aired on KBS after all.
3.Four Sons
This highly anticipated drama was going to star Park Hae Jin and Nana.
Problems quickly surfaced when the production company made unreasonable demands. Even worse, they stopped paying staff members. Many actors, including Nana, quit the show as a result. The situation became so bad that Park Hae Jin filed a lawsuit against the production company. The drama never recovered.

4.So I Married An Anti-Fan
This K-Drama was set to feature Sooyoung from Girls’ Generation and Choi Tae Joon.
The main issue was that no TV station wanted to broadcast the show. Many fans thought it was canceled since it never aired on television. However, there’s a happy ending here. The show finally found a home on Naver TV in April 2021, almost three years after filming began.
5.Wolf
Wolf was planned as a 16-episode drama. Unfortunately, it got canceled after just 3 episodes.
The production faced delays when cast members got injured. The lead actor, Eric, was among those hurt. The team planned to continue filming once everyone recovered. However, the constant delays eventually led to the show’s cancellation.
6.Joseon Exorcist
This 2021 K-Drama starred Jang Dong Yoon, Park Sung Hoon, Lee Yu Bi, and Kim Dongjun. Problems started early when both Jang Dong Yoon and Lee Yu Bi got injured during filming.

The real trouble came after the first two episodes aired. Both Chinese and Korean viewers criticized the show for historical inaccuracies. Over 216,000 people signed petitions demanding the show’s cancellation. Major sponsors like Samsung and LG pulled their support.
The combination of bad reviews and lost funding killed the show after only two episodes.
