Recently, a post on the popular Korean online community Theqoo went viral. It pointed out how often tall female idols face accusations about lying about their heights. The original poster shared five clear examples of this strange trend.
1.Tzuyu
Tzuyu now stands at 170 cm tall, making her the tallest member in TWICE. She actually debuted at 168 cm. From day one, fans refused to believe her true height.
“What’s funny is that my height was really 168cm during debut,” Tzuyu explained. “But when I said I was 168 cm tall, people would tell me, ‘Nope, you’re 170cm.'” She grew taller over time. “During the last health checkup, my height really came out to be 170cm.” Yet the problem continues. “But now that I say I’m 170cm, people go, ‘No, you’re 172 cm.'” She sighs, “I am telling the truth, but people won’t believe me.”

2.Yujin
IVE members all have impressive heights. As the tallest in the group, Yujin’s height often becomes a hot topic. Still, she faces constant doubt about her actual measurement.
“It might be difficult to believe but this is true,” Yujin shared. “But if I say I’m 173cm tall, most people don’t believe me.” She added honestly, “I’ll leave it to your imagination, but I’m 173cm tall.”
3.Wonyoung
Wonyoung also receives praise for her tall stature. She deals with the same skepticism as Yujin about her height claims.
“I am the same height as Yujin unnie,” Wonyoung stated simply. When asked if she had grown even taller, she replied, “Nope, I’m the same.” She then added, “We’ll leave it to your imagination, though. Just know that we’ve always told the truth.”
4.Doyeon
Weki Meki member Doyeon once vented her frustrations to fans. The constant disbelief about her height actually forced her to start lying about it.
“No, but if I say I’m 171cm tall, is anyone going to believe me?” Doyeon asked. “No matter how many times I check it at the hospital, it has always shown 171cm.” Then she revealed, “Do you know why I say I’m 173cm tall, though? Because nobody believes me. So I just say I’m 173cm.”
5.Sowon
GFRIEND member Sowon addressed this issue on Weverse years ago. She tried to put an end to the ongoing height debate.
“It’s true that I’m 173cm tall,” Sowon insisted. “Even if I were 180cm, I would have said so. But I’m not.” She seemed frustrated yet amused. “What can I do? LOL, I’m not reducing my height .” She even offered proof. “If I measured my height on video, would you believe me? Let’s stop with the controversies from now…”
The compilation quickly gained attention online. It now has over 68,000 views. Many netizens have shared theories about why this happens so often.
